L-Theanine

Stress or anxiety drugs can cause sedation and other negative side effects while also being addictive. L-Theanine can help solve this problem.

Continuous supply of L-Theanine is shown to help you staying relaxed throughout the day.

What is L-Theanine?

L-Theanine is an amino acid primarily found in green tea. Studies show it is able to cross the blood-brain barrier, and it's found to reduce anxiety by blocking excitatory stimuli at glutamate receptors in the brain while stimulating the production of the inhibitory, relaxing neurotransmitter GABA.

There is a connection between anxiety, reaction to stress, and the brain’s most fundamental function, sustaining cognition. The most recent studies suggest a role for L-Theanine in supporting cognitive function and preventing its loss.

That means that, at the same time as being recognized for its ability to calm the mind, it's also shown to produce a state of "alert relaxation".

L-Theanine Benefits

The compound L-Theanine is shown to:

  • Have anti-anxiety and calming effects and can prove beneficial in depression or schizophrenia
  • Promote sleep quality, but with no drowsiness or impairing motor behavior side effects
  • Be beneficial in weight loss as L-Theanine is shown to have positive effects of fat burning
  • Cancel caffeine's stimulants, enabling alertness and attentional switching accuracy
  • Support cognitive function and prevent cognitive loss (protecting brain cells)
  • Help prevent strokes and reduce damaging effects after a stroke

L-Theanine supplementation may also prevent the peak in blood pressure experienced under stress. Supplements can be taken in the form of tablets or capsules, its main food source being green tea.
